“The Simple Things”
Gratitude can be found within the most simplest of things.
A smile on the face of a child,
the melody that a morning bird sings.
A fresh, cool breeze dancing upon my face. No longer hopeless and homeless, I have shoes upon my feet to lace.
A gentle ocean wave kissing the serene sandy shore.
No longer a slave to alcohol, sobriety unlocked life’s new door.
A perfectly shaped snowflake that descends upon the ground.
No longer engulfed by fear, within a bottle I no longer drown.
The luscious scent of a cut lawn on a sweet summer day.
No longer consumed by darkness, a constant sense of dismay.
A gorgeous vibrant sunset, slowly dipping behind the edge of the Earth.
No longer impeded by doom, God has given me the gift of rebirth.
The pleasing sound of a passing rain upon a thirsty, tin roof.
Life beyond my wildest dreams, God has provided the proof.
A single tulip in the spring, pushing its way through the ground.
For I am that tulip, my color is finally free, I am forever found.
A hand reached out to another, my experience that helps someone in need.
We shall not do it alone, we
no longer need to bleed.
God is always providing miracles, we just need to open our eyes and SEE!
I stay forever grateful, it’s the only way to live for me.
Gratitude can be found in the most simplest of things.
I am grateful for today and for what tomorrow brings!
