Mother’s Day can be complicated. It’s not always brunch and flowers. Sometimes it’s grief, guilt, gratitude—and growth. Especially for moms in recovery.
To the moms doing the messy work of healing while raising tiny humans (or grown ones), we see you. You’re rewriting generational patterns in real time. You’re learning to feel instead of numb. You’re showing your kids what real strength looks like—even when it doesn’t look graceful.
Being a mom is hard. Being a mom who’s sober—or trying to get sober—is brutal and brave. It’s sitting with shame and still showing up. It’s missing bedtime for a meeting. It’s admitting you don’t have all the answers and showing your kids what accountability looks like.
To the moms who got sober because of their kids: thank you. To the moms getting sober for themselves—thank you, too. Either way, you’re giving your family something more powerful than perfection. You’re giving them truth.
And to the moms supporting their kids in sobriety, no matter how long the road or how many relapses—thank you for holding hope when we couldn’t.
Whether you’re one day sober, deep into recovery, or just waking up to the idea that life can be different—we celebrate you.
Today isn’t just Mother’s Day. It’s a day to honor women doing the hardest work with the biggest hearts. We appreciate you. We admire you. And we’re in your corner.
With love and deep respect,
The Sober Not Subtle Team
